Expert Bio

I have been a competitive runner for over 45 years. My personal best marathon time was a time of 2:22:54, achieved at the Boston Marathon, In 1983. My career includes 54 marathons, 16 of them Boston marathons and 51 of them under the three hour mark. I have run over 126,000 miles in my career which is the equivalent of circling the Earth over five times. I am one of only 28 runners from around the world to have run under three hours for five consecutive decades. My coaching career includes being a head coach of the men’s and women’s cross country team at Penn State Schuylkill from 2007 to 2020. My women’s team won the conference championship for three consecutive years, and I was honored to coach one Alll-American , and a young woman who won the conference championship for three consecutive years. Since 2013, I have done online coaching, And have coached runners from all around the globe. I have written two books about running: ‘Running Shorts,’ and ‘Personal Best.’ Since 1985 I have written a monthly Running column in the Republican-Herald Newspaper based in Pottsville Pennsylvania. I have been a USATF track and field official since 2021. In addition to Running, I enjoy cycling and kayaking.
