Expert Bio

My name is Mildred D. Muhammad, and I am an Award-Winning Global Keynote Speaker, Domestic Abuse/Violence and Personal/Professional Development Consultant. With my expertise, I specialize in helping individuals identify and overcome emotional triggers and flashbacks in the healing process. I am passionate about establishing healthy patterns of self-care and self-compassion, as well as reclaiming personal power and building resilience and strength in the recovery journey. Throughout my career, I have achieved numerous milestones and received recognition for my work. As an Award-Winning Global Keynote Speaker and International Expert Speaker for the US Department of State, I have had the privilege of addressing audiences worldwide. Through my compelling story as the former spouse of the DC Sniper, I shed light on the horrors of my past, including terror, abuse, and heartbreak. Simultaneously, I advocate for Domestic Abuse/Violence Awareness and Prevention, raising awareness on a global scale. I am honored to be recognized as "One of the Nation's most powerful advocates for victims and survivors of domestic violence" by WROC-TV, Rochester, NY. Organizations and agencies worldwide seek me out to share the intimate details of my experiences with fear, abuse, and frequent victim-blaming. My personal journey from victim to survivor has strengthened and expanded the scope of my mission. I speak to a wide range of audiences, including victims and survivors of domestic violence, advocates, law enforcement professionals, therapists, counselors, mental and medical health providers, university and college students, and military personnel. My sincerity is as impressive as my unforgettable story of abuse. I discuss the dangers of PTSD that soldiers face after returning from a war zone, as well as victims who have been diagnosed with PTSD. I am acknowledged and honored for putting my expertise and experience to good use by supporting the Family Advocacy Program and its goal of educating, promoting, and putting a stop to domestic abuse in military communities. Having counseled myself and my children on how to survive victim-blaming in the face of adversity, I turned my tragic circumstances into an opportunity to establish ground on all forms of Domestic Abuse that are often overlooked. From verbal and mental abuse to economic, spiritual, stalking, and emotional abuse, I am dedicated to speaking about the specifics and realities of domestic abuse/violence. Moreover, I strive to be a vessel of support and healing for all those affected. I have been honored with numerous awards, including the DomesticShelters.Org 2023 Purple Ribbon Lifetime Achievement Medallion Award and the 2022 Who's Who in America: Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award. These accolades, along with my certifications and qualifications, including being a Certified Domestic Violence Advocate and a Certified Professional/Personal Development Consultant, speak to my commitment and expertise in this field. If you have experienced or are experiencing domestic abuse/violence and are seeking support, guidance, and healing from the trauma, I am here for you. Together, we can reclaim your strength, autonomy, and sense of self-worth
